Making the digital offerings of Hamburg's daycare centers fit for the future.

Our mission

The AWO Bundesverband e.V., based in Berlin, is responsible for numerous social institutions in Germany. Among other things, the AWO operates an extensive network of daycare centers, which play a special role in Hamburg - both in terms of educational concepts and social commitment.

Challenge

The aim was to make the digital offering of Hamburg's daycare centers fit for the future, bundle external communication and significantly improve user guidance - with a clear focus on information, orientation and the recruitment of specialists. At the same time, internal structures were to be strengthened by a modern CMS, decentralized care was to be made possible and the AWO was to be positioned as an attractive employer in the social sector.

Solution

  • Kick-off workshop to define goals and requirements
  • Target group analysis & UX concept for parents, professionals, and admin roles
  • Design of a structured, accessible look & feel
  • Development of a CMS toolkit based on Statamic for flexible content editing
  • Integration of a daycare finder with map functionality and filter options
  • Technical implementation: Frontend & backend incl. roles & permissions management
  • Responsive design for all devices
  • Onboarding & training for daycare managers to enable decentralized content maintenance

Effect

The new website significantly increases user-friendliness and clarity. Thanks to a sophisticated role concept, all locations can be managed centrally. Parents and employees praise the intuitive operation and the targeted provision of information. Technical optimizations have increased visibility in search engines. At the same time, the basis for future recruiting and information campaigns was created.
